Report on Orientation Programme on NEP and Interdisciplinary Approach in Legal Education-Teaching, Research and Governance by Dr. Chetan Singai, Deputy Director (RPPC) and Associate Professor, RUAS, Bengaluru

The IQAC Cell of Ramaiah College of Law had organised Orientation Programme on NEP and Interdisciplinary Approach in Legal Education-Teaching, Research and Governance on 21 st September, 2021, from 2:30 to 4:00pm, at the Board room. The event started off with welcome Address by Dr. Anuja S., Associate Professor, Coordinator, IQAC with welcoming the speaker Dr. Chetan Singai, Prof Rose Varghese, the Director Academics) and Dr. Omprakash, Principal RCL. The Director Academics set the tone for the Programme by discussing on the perspectives of NEP 2020.

The expert discourse on the topic rendered by Dr. Chetan Singai caught the interest and attention of the faculty and staff who attended the same. He started off with the main crux of NEP, 2020 declaring, the faculty is at the heart of the Learning Process. The impact and implications of NEP on the legal Education was effectively captured by the speaker based on three facets of education ie., Teaching, Research and Governance. The necessary implications that ought to be taken care of while incorporating interdisciplinary approaches into courses, pedagogy and assessment reforms was critically highlighted by the speaker.

A clarion call was made to the stakeholders, the students, the faculty and the institution to carry forward the nuances of NEP 2020 which is the new normal for the future reflecting a sustainable model.NEP2020 had materialized the choices, chances and provides changes scholastically which needs to be implemented on a priority basis.

The expert discourse had reflected upon the need and significance for preparation of an Institutional Development plan for RCL which can go a long way forward in making a mark in the field of legal education. This initiative of IQAC in planning the event was well appreciated by the Director (Academics) RCL.
